The Referred By field is located in the Contact Details section of a Contact Overview. The ability to add a referrer for multiple contacts at once may come in handy if one individual or organization has referred multiple contacts to you and you decide to begin tracking this data.
From your Advanced Search page, after running a search that will include your desired contacts, place checks to the left of the names of those contacts for whom you want to add the same referrer:
Then, click the Contact Options menu above your search results and select Bulk Actions:
Next, select Change Contact Referred By from the Bulk Contact Actions modal that appears.
After clicking Change Contact Referred By, you'll then see the Change Contact Referred By modal, where you can add the common referrer for each of these six records:
After typing that referrer name in the "Referred By" box, or selecting from names that appear as you begin typing the Referrer name, and clicking Change Referred By, this information will be reflected in the Contact Details for each of the selected records.
As you can probably see, it's a quick and easy method to change the referrer for multiple contacts at one time. Note: Contact Referred By is a searchable field within Redtail CRM, so you can easily search for all records with a specific referrer.
