Scheduled Email Server Maintenance: August 11th 2012

On Saturday August 11, 2012, Redtail's Email Hosting Services will undergo maintenance to upgrade the Zimbra Collaboration Suite, the foundation of Redtail's email platform. We anticipate that your mailboxes will be inaccessible between 7:00am and 5:00pm PST, meaning you will not be able to access your Redtail-hosted mailbox, receive new messages or send messages. We understand that this may pose an inconvenience to some subscribers, but please rest assured that the receipt of all outside mail will continue uninterrupted. Once your mailbox is available, all messages received during the scheduled maintenance will be present within your mailbox.

The new version of Zimbra will offer a number of features, bug fixes and security improvements.   Outlook users, in particular, will appreciate a number of new features after upgrading to the latest version of Zimbra Connector for Outlook (ZCO), which will be available on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Upgrade instructions can be located here.

With the upgrade, emails will be protected with S/MIME encryption and signing, both of which are now native to the Zimbra Web Client and work with Outlook using the ZCO. In short this means that only the intended recipient can read messages, with the sender’s identity assured. Previously, just the communication itself could be secured via SSL. With S/MIME, the data inside is encrypted as well, adding a second layer of protection. Additional information about other features can be located here.
