To run an Advanced Search within Redtail, click Search under your Contacts menu:
You'll then see an area where you can set up the parameters for your Advanced Search:
The Field menu presents you with a list of all of the fields within Redtail that you can set up a search for here. In this post, we'll take a look at the Contact Input By field (this is an automatic entry within your database and shows up in the Input By field under Contact Details):
After selecting "Contact Input By" from the Field menu, your next selection to make is the Operand you want to use with it. Your available Operands are:
- Begins With
- Equal To
- Greater Than
- Less Than
- Not Equal To
- Is Empty (NULL)
We'll explain the types of results you might expect from some of these, along with what you might enter in the Criteria box to get at your desired results.
Begins With — this is not a valid Operand with the Contact Input By field.
Like — this is not a valid Operand with the Contact Input By field.
Equal To — Use this Operand to determine which database users added which contacts to your database. If you wanted to find all contact records added to your database by Les Andrews, you'd use the following search:
Greater Than / Less Than — these are not valid Operands with the Contact Input By field.
Not Equal To — It's unlikely you would use this Operand with the Contact Input By field but it will return all contacts with a Contact Input By entered that doesn't match your Criteria.
Is Empty (NULL) — this is not a valid Operand with the Contact Input By field, since the Input By is generated automatically when a contact is added to your database.
