After selecting "DL Expiration Month" from the Field menu, your next selection to make is the Operand you want to use with it.  Your available Operands are:

  • Begins With
  • Like
  • Equal To
  • Greater Than
  • Less Than
  • Not Equal To
  • Is Empty (NULL)

We'll explain the types of results you might expect from some of these, along with what you might enter in the Criteria box to get at your desired results.

Begins With — this is a valid Operand with the field, but you'll want to use the numerical equivalent of the month as your Criteria.  In most cases, you'd want to just use the Equal To Operand to find a specific month.

Like — this is a valid Operand with the Driver's License Expiration Month field, but not one that you'd be likely to use.  If using, you'll want to use the numerical equivalent of the month as your Criteria.

Equal To — Use this when you want to pull up all records with a specific Driver's License Expiration Month:

This search would return all contacts in your database for whom you've recorded a Driver's License Expiration in January.

Greater Than / Less Than — these Operands can be used to find contacts whose Driver's License Expiration Month falls later or earlier in the year than the month you enter as the Criteria.  You must use the numerical equivalent of the month with these Operands.

To find all contacts whose Driver's License Expiration Month is later in the year than January, you would set this search up as in the below example:

To find all contacts whose Driver's License Expiration Month is earlier in the year than June, you would set this search up as in the below example:

Note: you can use the AND function after your Criteria box to combine the Greater Than and Less Than Operands in order to find all contacts whose Driver's License Expirations fall between two entered Months:

The above search would return only those contacts whose Month of Birth is greater than 1 (January) and Less than 6 (June), i.e., your results would display those contacts with a Driver's License Expiration Month of February, March, April or May.

Not Equal To — Although you probably wouldn't be too likely to use this Operand with Driver's License Expiration Month, it will allow you to find all contacts whose Driver's License Expiration is not in the month you indicate.  In the example below, your results would display all contacts who don't have a January Driver's License Expiration:

Is Empty (NULL) — Use this Operand to determine which of your contacts do not have a Driver's License Expiration Month entered for their record:
