The Field menu presents you with a list of all of the fields within Redtail that you can set up a search for here.  In this post, we'll take a look at the Account TQ Type field:

After selecting "Account TQ Type" from the Field menu, your next selection to make is the Operand you want to use with it.  Your available Operands are:

  • Begins With
  • Like
  • Equal To
  • Greater Than
  • Less Than
  • Not Equal To
  • Is Empty (NULL)

We'll explain the types of results you might expect from some of these, along with what you might enter in the Criteria box to get at your desired results.

Begins With — if you were looking for all contact records that held accounts where the Product Tax Qualified Types began similarly you could do so.  For instance, if you were looking for all contacts who had accounts for which the Product TQ Type name began with "401", you could set your search up as below:

The above search would return all contacts who had either 401(a) or 401(k) accounts attached to their records.

Like — Similarly, if you have a number of accounts within your database that include the same string of characters somewhere within the Account TQ Type name, using this Operand with the Account TQ Type field will allow you to pull up all contacts who have one of those accounts attached to their contact records.  As an example, let's say that you're looking for all contacts that have an account with a TQ Type that has "IRA" in its name.  You could set up the following search to retrieve all of those contacts:

Note: this string of characters could be at the beginning, end or anywhere within the Account TQ Type name.

Equal To — Use this Operand when you want to pull up the contact records that have accounts with a specific Account TQ Type name:

This search would display all contact records that have an account whose TQ Type is SEP IRA.

Greater Than / Less Than — these Operands will not return any results with the Account TQ Type field.

Not Equal To — Use this Operand to pull up all contacts who have accounts with a TQ Type other than the Criteria you designate:

Note: if a contact has two accounts attached to their record, one that has the TQ Type you indicate in the Criteria and one that does not, they will be included in your search results, as they have an account not equal to the TQ Type you designate.

Is Empty (NULL) — This Operand will not return accurate results with the Account TQ Type field.

Note: with any of your Advanced Searches, you can create Tag Groups or Quicklists.  You also have many other options in terms of working with your search results.
