To run an Advanced Search within Redtail, click Search under your Contacts menu:
You'll then see an area where you can set up the parameters for your Advanced Search:
The Field menu presents you with a list of all of the fields within Redtail that you can set up a search for here. In this post, we'll take a look at the Account Model/Strategy field:
After selecting "Account Model/Strategy" from the Field menu, your next selection to make is the Operand you want to use with it. Your available Operands are:
- Begins With
- Equal To
- Greater Than
- Less Than
- Not Equal To
- Is Empty (NULL)
We'll explain the types of results you might expect from some of these, along with what you might enter in the Criteria box to get at your desired results.
Begins With — if you were looking for all contact records that held accounts where the Account Model/Strategy names began similarly you could do so. For instance, if you were looking for all contacts who had accounts for which the Account Model/Strategy began with "Growth," you could set your search up as below:
The above search would return all contacts who had accounts whose Model/Strategy began with "Growth."
Like — Similarly, if you have a number of accounts within your database that include the same string of characters somewhere within the Account Model/Strategy name, using this Operand with the Account Model/Strategy field will allow you to pull up all contacts who have one of those accounts attached to their contact records. As an example, let's say that you're looking for all contacts that have an account with a Model/Strategy that has "Moderate" somewhere in its name. You could set up the following search to retrieve all of those contacts:
Note: this string of characters could be at the beginning, end or anywhere within the Account Model/Strategy name.
Equal To — Use this Operand when you want to pull up the contact records that have accounts with a specific Account Model/Strategy name:
This search would display all contact records that have an account whose Model/Strategy is "Growth and Income."
Greater Than / Less Than —these Operands are unlikely to be used with the Account Model/Strategy Field. If you do use them, they will return results that are either greater than or less than your entered Criteria in terms of where they fall in an alphanumeric pattern.
Not Equal To — Use this Operand to pull up all contacts who have accounts with a Model/Strategy other than the Criteria you designate:
Note: if a contact has two accounts attached to their record, one that has the Model/Strategy you indicate in the Criteria and one that does not, they will be included in your search results, as they have an account not equal to the Model/Strategy you designate.
Is Empty (NULL) — Use this Operand to find all contacts that have at least one account for which the Account Model/Strategy field is empty:
