The Field menu presents you with a list of all of the fields within Redtail that you can set up a search for here.  In this post, we'll take a look at the Account Product field:

After selecting "Account Product" from the Field menu, your next selection to make is the Operand you want to use with it.  Your available Operands are:

  • Begins With
  • Like
  • Equal To
  • Greater Than
  • Less Than
  • Not Equal To
  • Is Empty (NULL)

We'll explain the types of results you might expect from some of these, along with what you might enter in the Criteria box to get at your desired results.

Begins With — if you were looking for all contact records that held accounts where the Product names began similarly you could do so.  For instance, if you were looking for all contacts who had accounts for which the Product name began with "Assure", you could set your search up as below:

Like — Similarly, if you have a number of accounts within your database that include the same string of characters somewhere within the Account Product name, using this Operand with the Account Product field will allow you to pull up all contacts who have one of those accounts attached to their contact records.  As an example, let's say that you're looking for all contacts that have an account with a Product that has "Assure" in its name.  You could set up the following search to retrieve all of those contacts:

Note: this string of characters could be at the beginning, end or anywhere within the Account Product name.

Equal To — Use this Operand when you want to pull up the contact records that have accounts with a specific Account Product name:

This search would display all contact records that have an Assuremark II account.

Greater Than / Less Than — these Operands are unlikely to be used with the Account Product Field.  If you do use them, they will return results that are either greater than or less than your entered Criteria in terms of where they fall in an alphanumeric pattern.

Not Equal To — While it is unlikely you would use this Operand with the Account Product field, if you did it would return all contact records that have accounts attached to their record that do not equal the Criteria you provided.

Is Empty (NULL) — This Operand will return any contact records that have accounts attached to them without an Account Product listed:

Note: with any of your Advanced Searches, you can create Tag Groups or Quicklists.  You also have many other options in terms of working with your search results.
