Can I add additional Activity Types to my database?

When adding an activity to Redtail CRM or when editing an existing activity, one of the fields available is Activity Type.  By default, there are several Activity Types from which you can choose.  If you would like to designate an Activity Type not available from those default Types, however, you have the ability to add new Activity Types.

To do so, under your Manage Your Account menu, select Manage Database Lists:




The body of the Manage Database Lists page contains all of the lists that you can edit in expanded form.  You can work with individual database lists by clicking their name in the Lists box to the right:




After you've clicked Activity Type Lists, your page will refresh displaying only this list:




Note that beneath some of the Activity Types displayed here, e.g. Phone Call, that these are system Activity Types and cannot be edited or removed.  You can, however, add new Activity Types by clicking the Add button in the top right corner.  You'll then see the below dialog:




Just type in the name for your new Activity Type and click Save Activity Type.  If you had added a new Type named "Conference", you would then see it in your list of Activity Types, as below:




As you can see, those Activity Types that have been manually added to your database have both Edit and Delete options beneath them, meaning you can edit their name or delete them entirely.

After adding your Activity Type, it will then be available in the Type menu when adding or editing an Activity.  

Note: when running any of the below Activity Reports, you have an option to filter by Activity Type, so there is a method to search by Activity Types:

Activities by Contact Report

Activities Assigned To You By Others Report

Activities Assigned By You To Others Report
