How do I manually add account values in Redtail?

If you are not currently using one of the account aggregation firms with which we offer integrations, you would need to manually add your account values for accounts you've entered into Redtail CRM if you want those values reflected in the client's Portfolio Value.

To manually add account values, go to the Accounts page for the contact record whose account you want to add a value for - the  Accounts page is accessible under Contact Overview —> Accounts:

You'll then see all accounts you've entered for the client:


For this client, note that the Balance for the first Open account listed, 0123456, is $0.00.

To add a value for this account, we'll double click anywhere in the row that contains this account.*  On the resulting page, you'll see the below at the top of the page:

Click Add.  You'll then see the below dialog:

There are five fields you will need to complete here for the value to show up for the account — those fields are highlighted above.

Asset Name: whatever you want to use here
Share Balance: 1
As of: Use today's date
Share price: account value
As of: Use today's date

Then click Add Asset.  The value should then be reflected for the account and in the client's Portfolio Value.


*There is one exception to this method of adding an account value and that is for accounts with a Type of Universal Life. For those, you can add an account value by entering it in the Cash Value field under the account's General Information section.
